Becky’s Bali Bliss: The Ultimate 3-Week Itinerary

If you’ve ever dreamed of an island escape filled with lush greenery, turquoise waters, vibrant culture, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, Bali should be at the top of your list. I recently spent three unforgettable weeks here, exploring bustling towns, serene beaches, and breathtaking landscapes.

From sunrise views to swimming with dolphins, here’s how to spend 3 weeks in Bali (with a quick Singapore stopover) and make every moment count.

Why Bali Should Be Your Next Adventure

Bali truly has it all - rich culture, endless beaches, warm and welcoming locals, and an incredible variety of activities. One day you might be sipping freshly brewed coffee in a mountaintop café, the next soaring over rice fields on a giant swing, and the next relaxing in your own private villa pool.

And the best part? Everything is surprisingly affordable. Delicious meals, spa treatments, and day trips are a fraction of the price you’d expect - making Bali a top contender for both luxury and budget travellers.

Ubud: Bali’s Cultural and Adventure Hub

If you want easy access to day trips and local attractions, base yourself in central Ubud. This bustling area is packed with cafés, shops, and colourful markets.

Things to Do in Ubud:

  • Mount Batur Sunrise Trek: A challenging but rewarding hike with jaw-dropping views.

  • Tirta Gangga Water Palace: A serene royal water garden that’s a photographer’s dream.

  • Lovina Dolphin Watching: An early morning boat ride to see wild dolphins dancing in the waves.

  • Coffee & Tea Tasting: Visit one of Bali’s coffee plantations to sample unique blends.

  • Affordable Massages: Treat yourself to a full-body massage for as little as £4.

Nusa Penida: A Paradise Escape

A short boat ride from Bali, Nusa Penida is the island getaway you didn’t know you needed. It’s quieter, less crowded, and perfect for slow, peaceful days. You can visit Diamond Beach which is famous for its dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear waters. I stayed right on the beach and that meant we could snorkel straight from the hotel. Soak up the sunshine and the unforgettable views, before heading to Manta Point for an unforgettable underwater experience.

Sanur: Relaxation Meets Convenience

Only an hour from the airport, Sanur is a great final stop before flying home. It’s calm but lively enough to keep you entertained. Whether you’re strolling along the beach promenade or enjoying a beachfront dinner, Sanur offers a more laid-back vibe while still having plenty to do. Think quaint markets with beautiful souvenirs or scenic sunsets after a day of exploration. It was by far my favourite stop on our trip, it was just the perfect mix of relaxation and having something for everyone.

Bonus Stop: 48 Hours in Singapore

Before or after your Bali trip, a quick hop to Singapore is well worth it. It’s clean, organised, and incredibly safe. There are some absolute must-dos in Singapore and even with a short stay, you can definitely fit in a lot. Firstly, Lau Pa Sat Hawker Centre - a 24-hour food market serving dishes from all over Asia. Everything was so affordable and so delicious, definitely worth the trip. You can also visit the home of the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool, Marina Bay Sands SkyPark. If you aren’t staying at the hotel, you will need to book to go as this is an extremely popular spot!

We saw the spectacular views of the city lighting up the night sky on an evening river cruise which ended in an amazing laser show. And of course, as you are travelling home, try and explore as much of Changi Airport as possible, with gardens, cinemas, and rooftop pools, it makes those later flights feel worth it.

Top Tips for Your Bali Trip

  • Download the Grab App - Your go-to for ordering taxis and food.

  • No Tipping Needed - Locals don’t expect tips, but great service is everywhere.

  • Avoid the Party Hotspots - Bali has plenty of quiet areas if nightlife isn’t your thing.

  • Bring Your Camera - This is a memory-book destination you’ll want to capture.

  • Pack for Variety - Bali’s activities range from hiking to beach days, so bring versatile clothing.

Final Thoughts

Bali is one of those rare places where you can have luxury experiences without breaking the bank. Whether you’re chasing waterfalls, exploring temples, or floating in a private infinity pool, you’ll leave with stories (and photos) that feel almost unreal.

I loved my trip so much that I’ve already booked to return next year to explore more of Indonesia. So, if Bali’s not on your bucket list yet… it should be.
