Caitlyn's trip to the Middle East

Recently, one of our Travel experts, Caitlyn had the opportunity to take an educational trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, this trip was nothing short of spectacular, offering a perfect blend of cultural exploration, luxurious hotel stays, and thrilling experiences.

Day 1:

Our journey began at Heathrow Airport, where we then flew with Emirates, and what a treat that was! From pillows and blankets to an impressive selection of movies, the in flight experience was top notch. We touched down at Dubai Airport at 4:45 AM and soon headed to our hotel in Abu Dhabi, the stunning St. Regis. The transfer took about an hour and a half, but the moment we stepped foot inside, it was all worth it.

The hotel’s grandeur struck me immediately, beautiful staircases, private check-in rooms, and luxurious rooms that had every detail perfected. My room had a king-sized bed, a standing shower, and a bath, all elegantly decorated. After settling in, we headed down to breakfast at 9 AM. I was spoilt for choice with everything from samosas to eggs any style you wanted.

We then embarked on a tour of the hotel, including a glimpse into the lavish suites that offer breathtaking sea views from the bathtub. Next, we visited the beach club, where a swim-up bar and private beach awaited us, all accessible through a stunning marble tunnel. Did you know the sand on the beach is flown in from South Africa? Fun fact!

Our first day’s adventure continued with a visit to the Grand Mosque, just 10 minutes from the hotel. The heat was intense, but the mosque’s beauty made it all worth it. Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious Italian lunch at the hotel’s a la carte restaurant, where my favourite dish was a homemade cheese pizza. Later, we visited the Rixos Hotel, indulged in more incredible food, and ended the day with some much-needed rest.

Day 2:

I woke up refreshed, treated myself to a morning bath, and made my way down to breakfast. Afterward, I soaked in some sun at the beach club before setting off for the day’s adventures. First stop? Ferrari World on Yas Island, just a 20-minute drive from the hotel. The theme park was a car enthusiast’s dream, with Formula 1 cars everywhere. While some rides were a bit scary, I braved them all!

Next up was Yas Waterpark. With its wave pools, lazy river, and thrilling rides, it was the perfect way to cool down. We even rented a cabana, which came with towels, a fridge of water, and a locker, all for 499 dirhams. After a full day of fun, we headed back to the hotel to prepare for gala night. We had a champagne sabering in the residential suite where many celebrities have stayed. We had a tour round the suite and it was insane having its own cinema and spa, and 6 toilets. Roughly out of season this suite would be 10,000 dirhams a night.

Day 3:

After two unforgettable nights at the St. Regis, it was time to move on to The Ritz Carlton. This hotel boasts the largest pool in the UAE, and I couldn’t wait to dive in. We indulged in a buffet lunch and toured the property, where I was particularly impressed by the luxurious villas, complete with private swim-up pools.

Later that evening, we visited the Shangri-La Hotel. The sunset view over the mosque from the hotel’s cocktail bar was nothing short of magical. Dinner was a Michelin-star French meal, paired with fine wines. It was a perfect way to cap off another incredible day.

Day 4:

Our next stop was JA Resorts, a massive property with football pitches, horse stables, and even golf lessons. This place is so huge you’d never have to leave! We then made our way to Bab Al Shams, where we were welcomed with fresh fruit and an “Arabian Nights” vibe. The infinity pool was a standout, and the evening entertainment, which included falcon holding and camel riding, made for a truly authentic experience. I was a little scared of the camel ride but couldn’t resist the adventure.

Day 5:

Our adrenaline filled day started with a Jeep Safari through the desert, speeding up and down the dunes, it was exhilarating! We then tried our hand at archery, which, while fun, was challenging in the heat. Afterward, we went in search of wild camels, learning fascinating facts.

After lunch, we transferred to The One & Only Royal Mirage, a stunning beachfront hotel. The adults only infinity pool was the perfect spot to relax before we toured the gorgeous suites and family rooms. Dinner was a feast of mini tacos, sushi, and chicken satay at the hotel’s Eau Restaurant, followed by drinks at Jetty Bar.

Day 6:

Day 6 kicked off with breakfast at The One & Only Za’abeel, followed by a conference where teams from Abu Dhabi, Maldives, Mauritius, and Thailand shared their experiences. Afterward, we toured the hotel, marvelling at the glass floors and the incredible skyline views from the infinity pool.

The evening was pure magic as we boarded a private yacht to One & Only Palm for our gala dinner. We enjoyed a sunset cruise and a tour of the boutique hotel’s stunning mansions before indulging in a 3-course meal at their restaurant, 101. The night ended with drinks and dancing at Blah Blah Nightclub.

Day 7:

Our last full day in Dubai was a free day, so we spent the morning lounging by the pool before heading to Dubai Mall for some shopping. The mall’s aquarium and fountain show were highlights, and seeing the Burj Khalifa up close was breathtaking. After a long day, we returned to the hotel for a final dinner at Beach Bar & Grill, a fitting end to an incredible trip.

Day 8:

Our time in Dubai and Abu Dhabi came to an end as we packed our bags and said goodbye. This trip was filled with luxury, adventure, and unforgettable experiences, and I couldn’t wait to share everything I’ve learned with everyone.
