Staff Spotlight: Carol Anne Bolton

 Carole Anne is a part of the Customer Care Team at Travel Village. After working here for 45 years, we were eager to know more about her day-to-day tasks and what she loves about working here. 

What do your day-to-day tasks involve?

My role includes looking after all our customers after they have initially booked their holiday. I check for any refunds that need to be processed which sometimes involves ringing up to chase customers for any details. 

I also deal with any payments, for example I process payments when customers ring the store to pay online or request extensions, I can authorise these. 

Much of my time is spent emailing customers friendly reminders about upcoming payments, calling customers who have overdue balances and keeping on top of clients that belong to our homeworkers. 

What do you like about your job?

I love being part of a big team and it is always such a friendly environment whenever I step into the office. I like being able to speak to customers and tour operators and sort out any queries or issues they may have. 

What do you love about working for the Travel Village Group?

I love the family business aspect and that our customers still receive the personal service that we have always been well-known for back in the Mr Bourne days. 

I always feel so comfortable talking with Phil and Paula with any concerns and they look after staff like they would a member of their family. Everyone gets on really well in the office and often go out to socialise together. It’s more like having a group of friends than work colleagues. 

Travel Village Group is really well-respected within the industry and it’s a true joy to come to work. I suppose that’s why we won Best Place To Work In Travel last year and I’ve been here 45 years!

Any advice for those wanting to join the travel industry?

 My advice would be to follow your dreams and just go for it. Ignore people’s negative opinions and never give up. Most importantly, be happy and enjoy whatever career path you decide to follow as you are at work more than you are at home!
