Travel Village Takes Home Two Awards At TTG Top 50
April 2023 | Travel Village
The TTG Top 50 ceremony took place at The Vox in Birmingham on Thursday 27 April, with more than 500 of the UK and Ireland’s top travel agents and supplier-partners in attendance, with entertainment from Fine Young Cannibals’ Roland Gift and chart-topper Chesney Hawkes.
Pippa Jacks, TTG Editorial Director, said: “Now in its eighth year, our TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies initiative sees us tour the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland to find those travel agents who have worked smartest, provided the best customer service, and done most to contribute to a fairer travel industry, in the last year.”
“We were delighted to see the high street travel agency sector performing so strongly, with almost every finalist reporting a record year of sales in the last 12 months – reaping the rewards of the extraordinary service they offered to clients during the challenges of recent years. There is no doubting that the high street travel agent is here to stay – and that holidaymakers are valuing their expertise more than ever.”
Travel Village was named the North West’s Top Agency as part of the TTG Top 50.
Carolyn Markey, our Store Manager, took the reins in May 2022 bringing with her 30 years of experience which has helped massively with growing shop sales. All our ladies in the shop have shown incredible customer service and focus on selling great products. A big thank you to Becky Hawker, Jayne Nelson, Alison Swallow, Amy Hession, Becky White and Charlotte Wheeler.
Judges said this about Travel Village’s win: “A new store manager [Carolyn Markey] who brought 30 years’ experience to the business has seen this Blackpool agency propelled from good to great since last summer. With impressive sales growth, exemplary customer service, and a successful focus on driving river cruise, this is a high street agent that is going from strength to strength.”
Phil Nutall, CEO, said: “We have had a really good year! We have enhanced the values and visibility of our business both in our local community and a wider audience. Our social responsibilities are as important as our sales and we are grateful to be spoken about positively in the community for this. Alongside everyone in the front shop, I would like to thank John Warr, Group Managing Director, for his relentless pursuit of greatness for this family business and for making us realise what we can achieve. Finally, a big thank you to Paula Nuttall, Group Director, for all the operational support, instinct and management of the Holiday Village”.
Top Cruise Agency
We also brought another award home, as Southampton Cruise Centre was named UK & Ireland’s Top Cruise Agency. The best cruise retailer in the British Isles!
Phil Nuttall, CEO, said: Southampton Cruise Centre has really come of age this year, a special thanks to Lewis Johnston and Jess Clayton for all their hard work and support to make the website what it is and the decision to focus on ‘Ocean Cruise’. Jess Mop, Jenny, Lilli and Lily have also put in a lot of effort to elevate the brand to another level.
Richard Cross, our Commercial Manager, has put in so much hard work and dedication to driving the commercials and supporting the sales team. This is as much your award as anyones. Last, but certainly not least, our sales team has been incredible and Lisa’s team’s support has made us have the best year ever”.
About Southampton Cruise Centre’s win, judges said: “This cruise specialist impressed with new technology and service processes which put the customer at the heart of everything the team does, as well as its deep-rooted passion for looking after its staff and a focus on looking after the planet. A raft of new developments and impressive growth added up to a pivotal year for this family-run business, which is part of the Travel Village Group. A very worthy winner indeed.”
All of us at the Travel Village Group are so pleased to take home these awards and we are ready for another great year ahead of us!
