Travel Village Team Walk For Solace
On the 19th May 2024 the team, from our store on Highfield Road, South Shore, headed out on a sponsored walk to raise money for Solace @Empowerment Charity. This local charity is very close to our hearts here at the Travel Village, as they helped one of our team member's daughter, after she lost her dad to suicide in July 2023. The team walked from St. Anne's Pier, Lytham to Blackpool's North Pier.
Solace is a prevention and postvention service based at Empowerment Charity. They help families, friends and the wider community, who have been affected by suicide, by offering peer support and therapeutic services. Solace provide a single point of access system to collaborate with local services and resources, which assists individuals navigating their difficult journey.
Solace has helped Eloise and Becky greatly with counselling, and supporting Eloise's return to school. They've been there, offering support, since the day after this awful tragedy happened.
As a thank you for all their guidance and support, the Travel Village wanted to raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention and mental illness, to stop other families suffering with the aftermath of suicide like Eloise has. At the time of writing this, the team have raised an incredible £2501 for Solace. Thanks go to everybody that has supported the team with donations, and well wishes on the day.
